DescriptionThis is an unknown event for the Division, but in the foreground is Alys Chard who emigrated with her husband George from the UK to New Zealand after WWII. They both served, he in the armed forces and Alys as a WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force), earning them both a membership in the RSA. They came to Bay of Plenty, staying with the Western family until George won a farm in a ballot in what is now Chard Road, just south of Katikati.
Opposite Alys sits Rhona Gumbley.
