DescriptionNoel was born in Otorohanga in 1915 and attended school there. He and Iris met whilst both attending teacher training and ended up both teaching at Kawhia School. They moved to Te Puke in 1948 with their young family where Noel was appointed Agriculture Instructor for the South Auckland Education Board. This job covered 102 schools from Waihī to Taupō and Cape Runaway where he was in charge of the "beautification of school grounds". In 1982 his passion for conservation and native trees and plants was recognised with a Fellowship from the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture.
He was also a trustee and founding member of the Tauranga Historic Village Museum for many years until 1986.
Iris, meanwhile, was kept busy with bringing up their five active children and was a constant support for her husband until her death in 1985.
