DescriptionKatikati Drama Club in the 1960s and 70s was an active and successful club which produced a number of well-reviewed plays and pantomimes which were performed at Katikati Memorial Hall. Fortunately, these performances were well documented and recorded and kept in a series of scrapbooks and photo albums which were donated to the Western Bay Community Archives by Ann Allen who enjoyed some stardom as part of the club.
These were a series of one act plays performed in June of 1967 at the Katikati Memorial Hall. One of the plays, "Ride a Tiger" won third place at the British Drama League's competition in Hamilton which was a fitting tribute to its producer Alf Abbot who collapsed a died of a heart attack during one of its performances.Date1967
