BiographyWilliam migrated to new Zealand in 1879 and married his compatriot Jane Spence in 1884 after her arrival in Auckland. They initially lived in South Waikato, in Litchfield where William bought a butcher's shop. The family with their four children moved to te Puke in around 1890 where they purchased and farmed a 100 acre property on No. 1 Road which they named "Greenfield". The family also had interests in No. 3 Road; indeed there is a Harray Road which exits off No. 3 Road in tribute to family. William died of a heart attack at the age of 53 after a life of hard work and service to the community of Te Puke. Last edited by: Sandra Haigh
