NameSarah AnneMaiden nameMuttonAlso known asAnnieLife dates1873-1948BiographyAccording to the British census of 1901, Sarah and her father lived together with her younger brother William in London, so her mother must have passed away, leaving young Sarah to take her place in the household. She is not in the 1911 census. Her father Robert passed away in 1905 and Sarah would have come to New Zealand after his death. She married Thomas Hingston Tanner on July 4th, 1914 in Te Puke.
She moved onto the Tanner property after her marriage to Thomas and kept a diary, in which she recorded her daily comings and goings, which provide a valuable insight into a homemaker's life in the early part of the 20th century. These diaries were donated to the Western Bay Community Archives in an old kerosene tin 2022 by Dot Mutton. The tin is on display in the Te Puke Museum CollectionPlace of birthLondon, UKPlace of ResidenceManagtoi, New Zealand
