DescriptionThis would have been used as a cake surround and features embroidered kowhai flowers. It might have made a very pretty surround for the Christmas cake to be raffled at Christmas in 1945. To spread the work and costs evenly amongst members, the minutes of the meeting held on August 8th, 1945 record that the following arrangement was made:
1lb. butter from Mrs. Cooper
1lb. sultanas from Mrs. Warn
1lb. raisins from Mrs. Thomas
1lb. currants from Mrs. Moulden
1lb. sugar from Mrs. Bull
1lb. flour from Mrs. Taylor
1lb. peel from Mrs. Joynt
10 eggs from Mrs. Wickham
Flavourings from Mrs. Taylor
