Life dates1930-2005BiographyJune arrived in Katikati with her new husband in 1955. They both taught at Katikati Primary School, but moved across the road to the college, where June became the Head of the Art Department.
A victim of the Polio epidemic the 1950s, she never wasted her time, appreciating every moment. After her retirement (she did continue to relief teach for quite some time), she along with Barbara Wolfenden and Joan Clark became the driving force behind the Katikati murals project. The inspiration for the project came from the Canadian town of Chemainus, which had historical murals painted on the walls throughout their town.
June became the Co-ordinator for the newly formed Katiakti Open Air Art group in 1990, and did not step down until 2004, a year before she died.
She received the Queen's Service Medal in 2002.
