DescriptionThomas, his wife Anna and their two children Frederick and Edith arrived in New Zealand on the "Oxford" in 1881. The kauri for this house was shipped from Mercury Bay to Maketu. It then came up the Kaituna River by waka and was transported to the site by dray. Thomas drowned at Maketu in 1891 leaving Anna and her two children to run the farm. Anna died in 1935 aged 95.
